Haileybury College, Hertford Heath, Hertfordshire

The interior of the rackets court at Haileybury College with 4 players on court and spectators in the galleries for the opening game. Rackets (or racquets) is an indoor sport, played in an enclosed court, similar to squash. The rackets court at Haileybury College was constructed in 1908 by Joseph Bickley, and is unusual in having a double gallery. Bickley is also recorded as the client for this photograph. The college itself was founded in 1862 as a boys' public school.
