Hair drying loft at Manor Tannery, Grampound, Cornwall

This picture, taken in the late 19th century, shows the area where hair from the hides was kept. This was used for mixing with mortar in building. The horns and hoofs from the animals were sold to specialised merchants. To the front of the building are the hairing beams, angled ready for use.
