Heald Wall Nook Cottage, Ripponden, West Yorkshire

This house was formerly the parish workhouse. The central doorway has a plaque over it inscribed: "This Building was Erected A:D 1827, by a Committee with the money arising from the coal in the White Birch Farm in Northow- ram, of which the interest that arises therefrom, is to be distributed to such poor people of Barkisland as have no Parochial Relief"
