Herstmonceux Place, Church Road, Herstmonceux, East Sussex
This building dates back to the early 18th century. In 1777 the house was enlarged by Samuel Wyatt for the Reverend Robert Hare, great grandfather of Augustus Hare. The bricks for the new portion were taken from Herstmonceux Castle. From 1807-1819 the house was occupied by Thomas Read Kemp, the founder of Kemp Town, Brighton.
