Horton Road Hospital, Gloucester, Gloucestershire

This was built as a hospital for the insane. It was begun in 1814 and opened for admissions 1823. It intended to provide accommodation for three categories of patients: the wealthy, the poor on parochial relief, and the poor not on relief. Men and women were to be separated.
