Kingston Russell Stone Circle, Kingston Russell, Dorset

Kingston Russell Stone Circle is a large irregular circle put up in either the Late Neolithic or the Bronze Age. There are eighteen, now fallen, stones. In 1815 one stone was recorded as still standing. The circle seems to have its full number of stones, although many of them may not be in their original positions. The circle is 30 metres in diameter. The stones vary in size from 2 metres by 0.5 metres to 1 metre by 0.3 metres. It is thought that the circle may have been graded in height with the tallest stones to the north. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010). Find out more.
