The 1st Life Guards, left, Corporal of Horse Elphick, right Coporal of Horse McMasters & troopers. The 1st Life Guards were called up to duty in August 1914 at the start of the First World War. They were involved in defending the Front Line and involved in battles such as Ypres, Loos and Arras.
