Knowle Hospital, Wickham, Hampshire
This was originally the Hampshire County Lunatic Asylum. It was built between 1850-1852 to designs by J Harris. It comprised an administrative block, kitchen and chapel block and symmetrical ranges of corridor plan wards. Both male and female patients were expected to work in the kitchens, on the farm or in other tasks to help support the hospital and community.
