Lilleshall Abbey, Lilleshall, Telford and Wrekin
The abbey was founded in 1143. It was originally at Lizard, then moved to Donnington Wood in 1144 and finally to Lilleshall in 1148. It was for canons of the Arrouasian order. This order was later absorbed by the Augustinians. The abbey was dissolved in 1538 and later converted to a house. This was fortified during the Civil War and besieged by Parliamentary forces in 1645. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
