Lime Kiln, Raunds, Northamptonshire

This lime kiln was built in the mid 19th century. Although lime kilns were often used to make lime as a fertilizer for fields, this kiln was associated with a brick works. It was part of Raunds Manor Brickworks. Lime was used to help bind the sand and clay together in brick making.
