Before bricks are fired they are known as 'green' bricks. This man is stacking the bricks in the kiln for firing, a process that will strengthen them for use in building. The groove in the top of the brick (called a 'frog') makes them lighter without reducing strength. Find out more about brick making in our Teachers' Kit - Brick Making.
