Low Mill, Caton, Lancashire

This cotton mill was rebuilt following a fire in 1838. Spinning required good light, and this mill is typical in having many windows. Industrial sites were not always designed to be purely functional - the facade, detailing and landscaping give this mill the feel of a country house.
