Maine Road Stadium, Manchester City Football Club, Greater Manchester

Manchester City FC was formed in 1880 as 'West Gorton St Marks' and played at Hyde Road until a fire in its 4,000 seat stand prompted its sale for tramway development in 1922. Maine Road, designed as a 'Wembley of the North' became City's new ground with a 32,000 seat capacity. The stadium's record attendance figure is 84,569 for a match against Stoke City on the 3rd March 1934.
