Marlow Lock, Marlow, Buckinghamshire
A pleasure steamboat going through Marlow Lock. The original lock was built as a timber (fir wood) pound lock in 1773. The lock in this photograph was built in stone in 1825 alongside the original one. It was replaced by a new lock in 1927. The clothing suggests that the photograph dates from the Edwardian period. The photographer was working for George Washington Wilson and Company who were based in Scotland.
