Masson Mills, Cromford, Derbyshire

Masson Mills is a large cotton-spinning complex consisting of three mills. The earliest was built by Richard Arkwright and is known as Arkwright Mill. It dates from about 1783. In 1911 the four storey Masson Mill was built in fireproof construction. It was joined onto the south end of Arkwright Mill. In 1922 Glen Mill was added to the south. Water-turbines replaced water wheels from 1928.
