Mechanic's Institute, Princess Street, Manchester

Founded in 1824, by the 1850s the Institute had outgrown its premises and a new building was constructed in 1854. This was the site of the first meeting of the Co-operative Insurance Company and the first Trade Union Congress in 1868. It is now National Museum of Labour History.
