Memorial to Norwegian Sailors, Spitalford, Northumberland

This memorial is dedicated to Norwegian sailors who died during World War One. Part of its inscription reads 'IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO DIED FROM EXPOSURE IN AN OPEN BOAT, WHILE ON PASSAGE FROM THE DEFENCELESS NORWEGIAN STEAMER "POLLUX" TORPEDOED BY A GERMAN SUBMARINE 40 MILES EAST OF ABERDEEN. THE BOAT REACHED SADDLE ROCKS DUNSTANBOROUGH, 22ND MARCH 1917'.
