Metal workers, Birmingham, West Midlands

This metalworker is using a lathe to shape cylinders. Lathes were used in medieval times to shape wood, but were substantially improved in the 19th century by Henry Maudslay (1771-1831) and then further modified by Richard Roberts (1789-1864).
