Monument to Edward Thomas, Steep, Hampshire

This monument is dedicated to the poet Edward Thomas. It reads 'THIS HILLSIDE IS DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF EDWARD THOMAS - POET, Born in Lambeth 3rd March 1878. Killed in the Battle of Arras 9 April 1917'. He joined the Artist Rifles in 1915 (Wilfred Owen joined two months later). He died before his first collection of poems was published.
