Monument to Sir Thomas Clarkson, Playford, Suffolk

This memorial was erected in 1857 to commemorate Sir Thomas Clarkson of Playford Hall (died 1846). In close coordination with William Wilberforce, Sir Thomas Clarkson initiated and organised the campaign for the abolition of slavery in the British Empire.
