Moravian Church, South Street, Leominster, Herefordshire

This church is dated 1759. It was then altered in 1875 and added to in c1900. Leominster's Moravian congregation was established c1750 and the church consecrated in 1761 by Bishop Gambold. Moravian is the name given to the Church of the Bohemian Brethren which arose among the followers of John Hus in 1457. The movement was dispersed by persecution but regathered in Herrnhut in Saxony in 1722. From there began the modern missionary movement in 1732, of which this is a part.
