Mount Grace Priory, East Harlsey, North Yorkshire

These are the ruins of a Carthusian Priory. It was founded by Thomas of Holland, Duke of Surrey in 1398. It was dissolved in 1539. Excavations over the last century, along with the surviving buildings have produced the most complete plan of a Carthusian priory known in England. This site is owned by the National Trust but is maintained and managed by English Heritage (2010).
