Neolithic Flint Mines, Harrow Hill, near Angmering, West Sussex
These earthworks are the remains of Neolithic mining activity. The hollows represent shafts and the mounds spoilheaps left from a series of pits dug to extract flint. About 350 tonnes of chalk may have been excavated from approximately 245 shafts, the largest of which is about 19.5m in diameter and 1.8m deep.
