Northfield Mill, Soham, Cambridgeshire

A smock mill built in the early 18th century as a drainage mill. The building was moved to its present site in 1839 where it was converted to a corn mill. An engine was installed in 1932, but the mill still occasionally works with wind. It was renovated in 1988. Find out more about windmills and watermills in our Teachers' Kit - Mills.
