Old Grammar School, Kirby Hill, North Yorkshire
This building was built as a school and hospital in c1556. It was founded by Rev John Dakyn. He was rector of the parish and one of Henry VIII's Commissioners who inquired into the income of the religious houses before the dissolution of the monasteries. He was also one of Queen Mary's persecutors of Protestant martyrs. A schoolmaster's house was added in 1706. It closed as a school in 1957 - 400 years after it was founded.
