Orford Castle, Orford, Suffolk

A Keep built in 1165-7 for King Henry II. The Castle stood as a formidable fortress over the port of Orford for centuries. The keep was built to a highly innovative design as an 18-sided drum with three square turrets. This property is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
