Peninsular Barracks, Winchester, Hampshire

This building was built as a military hospital in 1856. It was one of the last military hospitals to be built in the aftermath of the Crimean War. This was before the reforms suggested by Florence Nightingale had been made. In 1858, the Barrack and Hospital Improvement Commission criticised its layout, ventilation and facilities.
