Powell's School, Cirencester, Gloucestershire

This school was founded in 1714. It has a later plaque that reads 'POWELL'S SCHOOL HOUSE/ IN WHICH WERE ESTABLISHED/ THE BLUE SCHOOL 1714/ THE YELLOW SCHOOL 1722/ AMALGAMATED AS/ POWELL'S SCHOOL 1876'. The Blue School was for boys and The Yellow School was for girls. They were paid for and supported by various charitable donations from wealthy benefactors - including members of the Powell family.
