Quarry, Portland, Dorset
A group of miners in a stone quarry on Portland. Large blocks of stone are tied with chains ready to be lifted by cranes. Portland stone has been used in many public buildings including Buckingham Palace and St. Paul's Cathedral in London. It is a very light coloured stone.
