Raine's House, Stepney, Greater London

The former Raine's Foundation School was built in 1719 as a charity school by Henry Raine who lived in Wapping. The building has a Baroque facade. The main block has 2 wings. The one to the left was the headmaster's house and the one to the right is a replacement added by the Greater London Council around 1985. The school moved to Stepney in 1883 moving again to Arbour Square in 1913 and then to Bethnal Green. It has since been named Raine's House and used as offices of the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields.
