Refectory, Priory of St Mary, Carlisle, Cumbria

The Frater or refectory for the Priory of St Mary was built between 1465 and 1490 for Prior Gondibour. It has had several major alterations and restorations and is now the cathedral library, bookshop and cafe. St Mary's Priory, a house of Augustinian Cannons, was founded in 1122 by Henry I. The priory was dissolved in 1540.
