Roman House, Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset

The Roman House is the only Roman town house visible in Britain. It was built shortly after circa 307 and enlarged after circa 341. It had an H-shaped west wing with a hypocaust and mosaic pavements. The South range was added later in the 4th century containing 1 heated room and 1 kitchen. There was a well north of the south range. The site was excavated in 1938.
