Royal Gunpowder Factory, Waltham Abbey, Essex
The Royal Gunpowder Factory was established in the 1660s and acquired by the Crown in 1787. The buildings and structures were well spaced to avoid the risk of accidental explosion. This aerial photograph gives an impression of the size of the site.
