School House, Nottingham Road, Burton on the Wolds, Leicestershire

This school was built in 1881-2. The school was originally founded in 1657. It then moved to this site from the churchyard in 1840. It was then enlarged and made a Board school in 1882. Board Schools were built/maintained by local School Boards (committees) formed after the 1870 Education Act. The act was designed to build more schools and provide an education for children who had not previously been able to attend school.
