Selwood Hospital, Frome, Somerset

This hospital was originally built as the Frome Union Workhouse. It was built in 1837-8. The Poor Law Commissioners authorised £5,400 for it to be built. It was designed by Samuel Kempthorne in the hexagon design. It was to house 350 inmates. Kempthorne also designed workhouses in Bath, Bridgwater, Taunton and Yeovil.
