Ship at Broadstairs, Kent

A small knot of children look on while a Thames sailing barge unloads cargo on Broadstairs beach. In the distance the beach is thronged with holiday makers. They enter into changing booths that were then moved down to the seafront to allow the bathers to enter straight into the water. Being 'over-dressed' for the beach was not an issue at the turn of the century.
