Sopwell nunnery, St Albans, Hertfordshire

The ruins of Sopwell Nunnery with the cathedral tower visible in the distance. The nunnery was founded in 1140. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries, it passed to Sir Richard Lee who converted it into a mansion house in circa 1560.
