Stokesay Castle, Craven Arms, Shropshire

Stokesay Castle is the finest and best-preserved 13th-century fortified manor house in England. Seen here from the north west, it was fortified by Lawrence de Ludlow, a wool merchant, who died in 1294. It has been altered little over the centuries. This property is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
