View showing Stonehole 58 during excavation. The antler being pointed out by the archaeologist would have been used as a pick to dig the stonehole in the chalk bedrock. The Trilithon (Stone 58) which stood here fell on 3rd January 1797. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
