The Abbey Gatehouse, High Street, Sheerness, Kent

This gatehouse and the Abbey Church are the only remaining portions of the Minster Abbey built in the 13th century. At about the time of the suppression there were 10 nuns as well as a Prioress. The Priory was dissolved in 1536. The wide, pointed, archway allowed carriages to enter.
