The Friarage, Yarm, Stockton on Tees

The Friarage was built in c1770. It was the home of the Meynell family, a prominent local family also active in promoting the Stockton and Darlington Railway. It is built on the site of a Dominican Friary. The friary of the Dominican (Black) Friars was founded at Yarm before 1266. It was surrendered in 1538 as part of Henry VIII's Dissolution of the monasteries.
