The Meadowhall Centre, Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Shown 10 months into its 27 month construction period, The Meadowhall Centre is built on brownfield land formerly occupied by the Hadfield Steelworks. To complete the project, 100,000 cubic metres of waste were removed from the site and replaced with 2 million bricks, 100,000 tons of steel, 10 miles of drainage pipe and 98,000 cubic metres of concrete: enough to fill the old Wembley Stadium to a depth of eight metres.
