The Methuen Arms Hotel, Corsham, Wiltshire

Although the front of this inn is Georgian (18th Century) it is on the site of a house called Winter's Court held by Nott family from 15th century to 1732. The house was an inn in 1608 and recorded as the Red Lion in 1637. It then passed to Webber family, this change of owner can be seen on a date stone which reads 'NNIN 1650 CW 1742' - NNIN being a Mr Nott and CW being a Mr Webber. It was then purchased by a P. Methuen in 1779. It was drawn by the artist Buckler in 1805 (Devizes Museum) and presumably rebuilt c1830, which is the front seen today.
