The Middle House Hotel, Mayfield, East Sussex

The Middle House Hotel, seen from the north-west. It is an excellent example of Elizabethan Architecture, which dates back to 1575. The house was once owned by Sir Thomas Gresham, a keeper of the Privy Purse to her Majesty. It was a private residence until the 1920's and is now (2011) an hotel. It still has a fireplace by master carver Grinling Gibbons and a private chapel.
