The Mill Dam, Swanage, Dorset

Children around the mill pond in Church Hill. The watermill was built by Ben Barlow, Mill Wright of Southampton, in 1754. The building itself may be older and was built with Purbeck Stone. A dam was built to create the mill pond. The mill has since been split into 2 houses. Find out more about windmills and watermills in our Teachers' Kit - Mills.
