The Old Grammar School, Hertford Street, Weobley, Herefordshire

This timber framed building was built in the early 17th century. It has close-set timber framing (close studding), which was a sign of wealth. The school was founded in 1659 by William Crowther and would have been a school for the sons of the local middle classes. On the ground floor were the school rooms. Upstairs were rooms for the master and a dormitory. By 1717 the grammar school catered for up to 25 boys.
