The Rollright Stones, Oxfordshire

Legend states that the Rollright Stones were formed when a king and his army were turned to stone by a witch. The group consists of three separate stone monuments all believed to date from 2500-2000 BC. This view shows the relationship of the main circle to the King Stone, a free standing monolith in the field over the road. The Whispering Knights are out of shot at the top of the picture. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
