This was originally called Baddings Tower and was built in the mid 13th century. It formed part of the town's medieval defences. A small portion of the 14th century town wall is still standing, attached to the tower on the east side. The tower sustained some damage from bombs, the main casualty being the pyramidal tiled roof.
