Two K6 Telephone Kiosks, Kingston Upon Hull
These two K6 telephone kiosks stood either side of the right entrance at the Head Post Office. This design dates from 1935. They were built from cast iron and designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. They were made by various contractors. While most of the country had red telephone kiosks those in Hull were a cream colour. Hull was one of only 6 local councils to set up their own telephone companies. By 1913 Hull was the only one still operating independently. In 1984 its license was extended to 2010.
