West Mill, Sherborne, Dorset

This flour mill dates from the early 18th century and replaced an earlier mill. It was worked commercially until the 1950s and is the only surviving mill in Sherborne. It sits directly on the river Yeo. Surviving machinery includes the pit-wheel (1877), a considerable amount of gearing and various mill-wheels etc. The mill was restored in 1979 by the boys of Sherborne School.
